For some further insight into the development of the rules, below is the ethos behind each class.
Every year there are rule updates put forward and voted on by those on the mailing list. The rules are the collective thoughts of the drivers of the QLD Time Attack scene.
Street Class:
This class is for new drivers joining up and starting out, or lower budget racers. The modifications are based around driver safety, car safety and being able to do minor upgrades that will make the car more track ready.
Club Spec Class:
This class is the next progression in the track driving journey, allowing performance based modifications but still on street based performance tyres. Once a car starts being built for track this is the next step for it.
Hot Hatch Class:
This class is for the new generation of 2WD performance cars with 180kw OEM specification or more. It has been separated into its own class this year so we can work with the drivers to develop the rules to their specific vehicles.
Performance Class:
This is for hard street / track cars allowing full track tyres. Aero is limited and mechanical grip is king.
Extreme and Electric Class:
This class is for the full blown aero based time attack cars, these are the pinnacle of the sport. This class includes electric vehicles until there are enough for their own class.
Time Attack GT Class:
This is an experimental class to see how many drivers want to modify their car in a GT based direction and race the time attack format. These are built race cars based on mechanical grip.
